"The fishy dozen".

One of my goals last year was to catch twelve new species of fish. Here are the new ones I caught...

  1. Sharpsnout Seabream (Diplodus Puntazzo)
  2. Redlip Blenny (Ophioblennius Atlanticus)
  3. Tadpole Fish/Lesser Forkbeard (Raniceps Raninus)
  4. Twaite Shad (Alosa Fallax)
  5. Barbel (Barbus Barbus)
  6. Goldfish (Carassius Auratus)
  7. Shubunkin (Carassius Auratus)*
  8. Boxlip Mullet (Oedalechilus Labeo)
  9. Brown Comber (Serranus Hepatus)
  10. Blue Orfe (Leuciscus Idus)*
  11. Bullhead (Cottus Gobio)
  12. Fifteen Spined Stickleback (Spinachia Spinachia)
  13. Nine Spined Stickleback (Pungitius Pungitius)
*Technically speaking a shubunkin is the same species as a goldfish and a blue orfe is the same species as an ide in the same way a blue trout is the same species as a rainbow trout or a common carp is the same species as a mirror carp. Just doesn't seem right to lump them together somehow so I'm including them as a new species.
